How to troubleshoot the Samsung TV that will not turn on
Troubleshooting a TV or Odyssey Ark gaming screen that won't turn on can be tricky. In some situations, it may actually be on but just displays a black screen. The key for TVs is the red standby light, which is a little red light at the edge of the TV that you aim the remote at. In normal use, the red standby light is on when the TV is off (indicating the TV is on standby), and the red standby light is off when the TV is in use (or doesn't have power). If you are using a monitor, the standby light will be blue.
Is your standby light on, off, or blinking?
Note: It is normal for the red standby light to be lit when the TV is turned off (as long as it is plugged in and receiving power). But if the TV still won't turn, the only thing left to rule out is the remote.
If the TV does not turn on, but the red standby light is lit, then there could be an issue with the remote. Continue troubleshooting to determine if the issue is with the remote or the TV.
The Power button's location varies depending on your TV's model If you are not sure where it is located, see your user manual.
- If the TV turns on with the TV's physical button, then your remote is experiencing a problem. Check out our guide for troubleshooting the remote.
- If the TV will not turn on with the TV's physical button or the remote, then continue to the next step.
If your TV is receiving power (indicated by the red standby light being lit) but will not turn on with either the remote or the physical button on the TV, then service is needed. Visit our Support Center to request service
Note: When the red standby light is off, the TV either doesn't have power, or it's turned on and the screen is just black. The red light turns off whenever the TV is powered on.

Most newer TVs have buttons on the back right side. Without using the remote, press any button except the Power button. If anything appears on the screen, this confirms your TV is on.
If the TV's controls cause something to appear on the screen but the remote doesn't, then make sure to also troubleshoot your remote.
The next thing to rule out is a power issue. Unplug the TV and leave it unplugged for 30 seconds.
Next, plug the TV back in, using an outlet you know works (you can test the outlet with another device, like a lamp).
If the red standby light comes on (and doesn't flash or blink), your TV is receiving power and will probably turn on now. This means there is an issue with the original outlet, or the surge protector if you were using one.
If the TV still doesn’t turn on even though the red standby light is now on, continue troubleshooting using the steps in the first section of this article.
If the standby light never comes on after trying a working outlet, and the TV will not turn on, please contact Samsung Support to request service.

Next, plug the TV back in, using an outlet you know works (you can test the outlet with another device, like a lamp). Do not use a surge protector, as they may eventually wear out and stop providing the necessary voltage for your TV.
