Getting the One UI 7 update
In practice, you won’t need to look for a software update yourself. When One UI 7 becomes available for your Samsung Galaxy device, a push notification will automatically appear, prompting you to download and install it. Important updates like user interface (UI) upgrades or security patches are nearly impossible to miss. Your device ensures you’re notified when it’s time to update. All it takes is a single tap to start the update process, with no effort required.
Note that unlocked Galaxy devices typically receive updates sooner than carrier-locked models. This is because updates for unlocked devices come directly from Samsung, while carrier-locked devices may experience delays as the update goes through the carrier’s review and customization process.
How to check for a software update
If you’d like to check whether the latest One UI version is available for your Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet, follow the steps below:
Note: Depending on your carrier or device model, an additional step may appear, and you might need to tap Check for system updates or Check for software updates.

Switch back to the combined Notification and Quick settings panel
You can combine the Notification and Quick settings panels into a single view if you prefer the navigation method used before One UI 7. It only takes a few simple steps:
Note: On some Galaxy devices, the screen containing the Notification and quick settings view option may not appear. In that case, you’ll proceed directly to the next step.
The Home screen is the first screen you see when you unlock your Galaxy device. It typically displays a grid of app icons, widgets, and shortcuts that give you quick access to your most-used features. In One UI 7, the Home screen has been refreshed with updated icons and simplified widget templates for a cleaner, more modern look.
