Troubleshooting a TV that won’t turn on is simple. If the TV shows a blank screen, check the red standby light at the bottom. The light is on when the TV is off and off when the TV is on or has no power. Also, check the power outlet, power cord, and remote. If using an external device, ensure it's powered on. Choose the section below for specific troubleshooting steps.

It is normal for the red standby light to be lit when the TV is turned off as long as it is plugged in and receiving power.

1 First, try turning on the TV using the remote. If that does not work, try pressing the Power button on the TV instead of using the remote control. The Power button’s location will vary depending on your TV’s model.

2 If the TV turns on when the TV’s physical Power button is pressed, then there is an issue with the remote.
3 Try pairing the remote to the TV again. Point the Samsung Smart Remote at the front of the TV, and then press and hold the Return and Play/Pause buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds or more. Check your user manual on how to pair remote to TV.

Note: If the TV will not turn on with the TV’s physical power button or the remote, but the red standby light is on, then please contact Samsung Support for further assistance.

When the red standby light is off, the TV either doesn't have power, or it's turned on and the screen is just black. The red light turns off whenever the TV is powered on.

1 Make sure the power cord is properly connected to the TV or the One Connect Box and the outlet is working.

2 To test the outlet, unplug the TV and the One Connect Box for 30 seconds, and plug it back into a known working outlet. If that doesn’t work, try using a different outlet.

Note: If your TV is connected to a One Connect Box, disconnect and reconnect the Invisible Connection cable between the TV and the One Connect Box.

3 If the red standby light comes on, then your TV has power from the working outlet. This means there is an issue with the original outlet, or the surge protector if you were using one.
4 If the standby light never comes on after trying a working outlet, and the TV will not turn on, please contact Samsung Support for further assistance.
The red standby light is blinking or flashing
1 Unplug the TV and the One Connect Box for 30 seconds, and plug it back into a known working outlet. Do not use a surge protector, as they may eventually wear out and stop providing the necessary voltage for your TV. We recommend replacing the surge protectors.
2 If the red standby light comes on, then your TV has power from the working outlet. This means there is an issue with the original outlet, or the surge protector if you were using one.

Note: If the TV still won't turn on and the red standby light is still blinking, this is a sign that something is wrong with your TV. Please contact Samsung Support for further assistance.
